Laboratory Weighing Bottles: Low and Tall Forms

Weighing bottles are small covered laboratory vessels used to hold a sample while its mass is measured. They are commonly used with a suitable balance for powders and other solids. The vessel helps contain material during handling; accurate results still depend on the balance, the sample and a consistent procedure.

Lab Supply lists two forms below. Our low-form weighing bottles have a shallower shape, while the tall-form weighing bottles provide a taller vessel. Both listings describe an interchangeable knob lid and a matt label area. Compare the diameter × height table, product code and pack quantity on each product page before choosing a size.

Choosing a weighing bottle

  • Check that the bottle fits inside the balance chamber and suits the sample quantity.
  • Choose an opening and form that allow clean transfer without losing material.
  • Confirm the exact material, lid fit and chemical compatibility for your procedure.
  • Use a balance with appropriate capacity and readability, and follow your laboratory method.

A fitted lid can reduce brief exposure and spillage during transfer, but do not assume it is airtight or appropriate for storage, heating or every chemical. Follow the handling and safety requirements of your method. For practical steps, see our guide to laboratory weighing bottles and weighing by difference.
